With the theme 鈥淐entral Spirit: Uniting Generations,鈥� the celebration will bring together alumni, students, faculty, and the wider 探花精选 community through fellowship, culture, and shared traditions.

The lineup begins with the CARES 75th Anniversary on September 26, followed by the opening of 鈥淭ogether We Build鈥� exhibits, and the 121st 探花精选 Foundation Day Exhibit on September 28 that will last until October 9.

Alumni activities will continue throughout the week, including the Welcome Fellowship Dinner with Together We Build Presentation, Iloilo City Tour, Sharing of Professional Journeys, Mr. and Ms. 探花精选 Pageant, 探花精选AAI outreach, and PASUNDAYAG.

The celebration will also coincide with 探花精选鈥檚 121st Foundation Day on October 1, featuring the Foundation Day Memorial Service, unveiling of the Foundation Day Marker, Foundation Day Fellowship, and Hopevale Musicale.

On October 2, the campus will come alive with University Week – Centralian Fest (UWCF) Activities leading to the main homecoming celebrations on October 3. The October 3 festivities will feature the Central Spirit Run, Alumni Homecoming & General Assembly, the UWCF Folkdance Contest, Work Student Alumni Association Homecoming & General Assembly, and lastly the Alumni Gala Night, highlighting the coronation of Alumni King and Queen and the Induction of 探花精选FOAAI Officers.

The celebration will conclude on October 4 with the 19th 探花精选 Alumni Invitational Golf-For-A-Cause Tournament, 探花精选 Foundation Day Worship Service, and Operations Care International Outreach Program.

Some people take Chemical Engineering because they love chemistry. Others discover that somewhere between the equations, sleepless nights, and the occasional questioning of life choices, they find something more鈥攁 reason to keep learning, a community to grow with, and a purpose beyond the classroom.

For Samira Najwa F. Laud, a 4th-year Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering student of 探花精选 (探花精选), the journey has been a little bit of all that. And now, as the newly elected National Chairperson of the Junior Philippine Institute of Chemical Engineers (JPIChE) for Academic Year 2026鈥�2027, it has also become a journey of bringing people together and finding ways to make a difference.

A journey that started with curiosity.

Laud graduated from St. Anthony鈥檚 College in 2022-2023. Today, she is in her fourth year of Chemical Engineering at 探花精选, entering the final stretch of a degree that has challenged her in more ways than one.

When asked why she chose chemical engineering, the answer goes beyond simply enjoying chemistry.

She was drawn to the way the field combines science, mathematics, and problem-solving to create something useful. Chemical engineering is not just about chemicals; it is about understanding how things work, improving processes, and finding solutions to real-world problems.

And perhaps that is what makes the field interesting to her. There is always something to figure out, something to improve, and, occasionally, something that makes you wonder why you chose this course in the first place.

But beyond the technical side of the profession, her experiences as a student have also opened doors to leadership, service, and opportunities to work with people who share the same passion for Chemical Engineering.

From serving to leading.

In 2026, Laud took on a new chapter in her leadership journey when she was elected National Chairperson of JPIChE for AY 2026鈥�2027.

JPIChE brings together chemical engineering students from different higher education institutions across the country. Fornier her, being entrusted with a national leadership role is not simply about holding a position. It is about being part of something bigger than one university, one chapter, or one person.

Her experience in the organization has given her opportunities to work with different people, understand the realities of student leadership, and appreciate the importance of having a community that supports its members.

Leadership, after all, is not always as polished as it looks on paper. There are plans to make, people to coordinate with, and moments when everything seems to happen at once but somewhere in the middle of all that, there is also the opportunity to learn, serve, and help others grow.

Looking beyond the usual.

For JPIChE, the direction for the coming term is centered on building a stronger and more connected community for future chemical engineers.

The organization aims to continue providing meaningful opportunities for students through learning, leadership development, career preparation, and professional growth. It also hopes to strengthen connections among its chapters and create a wider sense of community across different universities.

Part of this vision is making JPIChE more accessible and valuable to its members鈥攏ot only through programs and activities, but also by strengthening the systems that allow the organization to serve more effectively.

There is also a growing emphasis on developing student leaders and looking after the people behind the organization. Through leadership development, officer support, and opportunities for growth, JPIChE hopes to help its members become more capable and confident in taking on responsibilities.

Beyond the student community, the organization also seeks to strengthen its partnerships with PIChE, industry, academe, and other stakeholders. These connections can help bridge the gap between the student experience and the professional world that future Chemical Engineers are preparing to enter.

At its core, the goal is simple: to make JPIChE a community where students can connect, learn, lead, and find opportunities to grow鈥攔egardless of where they come from.

Nevertheless, this is more than the title.

For Laud, leadership is not just about being the person at the front of the room. It is also about the people beside her, the lessons learned along the way, and the responsibility that comes with being given the chance to serve.

Her journey in chemical engineering and JPIChE continues to remind her that growth does not always happen in the most comfortable places. Sometimes, it happens in classrooms, in meetings, in late-night conversations, and in the moments when one chooses to keep showing up.

As she moves closer to completing her degree and continues her term as National Chairperson, one thing remains clear: the journey is still unfolding.

And whether it is through a process design, a leadership decision, or simply helping another student find their footing, she hopes to keep doing what she has always tried to do鈥攎ake something meaningful out of the opportunities entrusted to her.

Because in chemical engineering, as in life, the work is never just about the final product. It is also about the process, the people, and what can be built along the way.

The Philippine Native Chicken initiative of Golden Sprout Corp. emerged as one of the five winners of the 2026 Presidential Filipinnovation Awards National Competition, besting a field of 16 finalists nationwide. This recognition highlights the value of sustained scientific research in addressing real challenges confronting the Philippine native chicken industry.

For years, 探花精选 researchers have worked on strengthening the scientific foundation of native chicken production鈥攆rom breeding and production technologies to feeds, nutrition, health management, and other interventions designed to improve productivity while preserving the unique qualities of Philippine native chicken. These research efforts have helped generate knowledge, technologies, and products that can be translated into practical solutions for raisers, farmers, entrepreneurs, and other industry stakeholders.

What makes this achievement particularly meaningful is the journey from research to utilization. Scientific findings were not intended to remain on paper. Research results became the basis for developing and improving technologies and products that respond to actual production needs. Through continued R&D, validation, refinement, and industry application, scientific innovation has helped create opportunities for more productive and sustainable native chicken enterprises.

This demonstrates the important role of universities such as 探花精选 in the national innovation ecosystem. Research creates knowledge, but its greater value is realized when that knowledge is translated into technologies, products, enterprises, and solutions that reach communities and industries.

As part of the 探花精选 Grand Alumni Homecoming 2026, 探花精选 (探花精选) will feature the Together We Build exhibits from September 28 to October 3, 2026, to support the fundraising campaign for the construction of the Law and Medicine Building.

The exhibits will showcase cars, motorcycles, and corporate displays in designated areas around the University, providing members of the Centralian community and visitors an opportunity to support the campaign while taking part in the 探花精选 Grand Alumni Homecoming 2026.

The Car Exhibit will be held in front of the Kindergarten, while the Motorcycle Exhibit will be located beside the University Gymnasium. The Corporate Exhibit will be set up at the Alumni Promenade Concert Park.

The Together We Build Fund Campaign is an initiative dedicated to the Law and Medicine Building, which seeks to bring together alumni, partners, and members of the University community in supporting the University’s continuing development.

The exhibits will be held as part of the Grand Alumni Homecoming 2026, themed 鈥淐entral Spirit: Uniting Generations,鈥� inspired by Psalm 100:5, from September 28 to October 4.

On September 6, 9, and 13, 2026, 探花精选 hosted the three-day 2026 Bar Examinations as the sole Local Testing Center in Western Visayas, accommodating 563 examinees.

探花精选 (探花精选) hosted the 2026 Bar Examinations as the sole Local Testing Center (LTC) in Western Visayas, accommodating 563 examinees during the three-day examinations held on September 6, 9, and 13, 2026, at the 探花精选 Senior High School Building.

探花精选 was one of 15 LTCs nationwide designated by the Supreme Court鈥檚 Office of the 2026 Bar Chairperson for the 2026 Bar Examinations. The designated centers included seven in the National Capital Region, three in Luzon, three in the Visayas, and two in Mindanao.

The other LTCs in the Visayas were Dr. V. Orestes Romualdez Educational Foundation and University of San Jose-Recoletos. In Luzon, the designated centers were Saint Louis University, Cagayan State University, and University of Nueva Caceres. The NCR centers were New Era University, University of Santo Tomas, San Beda University, Ateneo de Manila University School of Law, Manila Adventist College, University of the Philippines Bonifacio Global City, and San Beda College Alabang. In Mindanao, the LTCs were Ateneo de Davao University and Mindanao State University 鈥� Iligan Institute of Technology.

The designation marked 探花精选鈥檚 fourth time to serve as an LTC, following its previous designations for the #GetThatBar2022, #BarNiJLo2024, and #AMYingForExcellence Bar Examinations.

On the third and final day of the examinations on September 13, the Supreme Court reported that 562 examinees were present at 探花精选鈥檚 testing center.

Following the final examination, a Grand Salubong was held along Cabangbang Street, where various Bar operations from law schools gathered to welcome their examinees. Families, friends, loved ones, and colleagues also joined the gathering to welcome and support the examinees as they completed the three-day examinations.

Congratulations to all Centralians who successfully passed the September 2026 Social Workers Licensure Examination!

Three Centralians placed among the top 10 examinees in the September 2026 Social Workers Licensure Examination (SWLE), according to results released by the Professional Regulation Commission (PRC) on September 17, 2026.

Kris Anne Masangkay ranked fifth with a rating of 92.40 percent, followed by John Marlou Salido in ninth place with 91.60 percent and Sittie Maimonah Abuat in 10th place with 91.40 percent.

The PRC announced that 8,383 out of 10,991 examinees passed the licensure examination administered by the Board for Social Workers.

The examination was conducted from September 9 to 11, 2026, across 18 testing centers located in NCR, Baguio, Butuan, Cagayan de Oro, Calapan, Cebu, Davao, Iloilo, Koronadal, Legazpi, Lucena, Pagadian, Palawan, Pampanga, Rosales, Tacloban, Tuguegarao, and Zamboanga.

探花精选 recorded a 94.94 percent passing rate among its first-time takers, and a 89.36 percent national passing percentage.

The 探花精选 School of Graduate Studies conducts 鈥淭he Mindset Matrix: Managing the Fear of Failure in Business鈥� webinar, featuring MBA alumnus and entrepreneur Mr. Renjo B. Debil as resource speaker, as part of the SGS 75th Founding Anniversary Webinar Series.

On September 12, 2026, a webinar organized by the 探花精选 School of Graduate Studies entitled 鈥淭he Mindset Matrix: Managing the Fear of Failure in Business鈥� was conducted at 探花精选, with Mr. Renjo B. Debil as the resource speaker, Founder and CEO of RenDewTech, Golden RJ Agri-Aqua Ventures and RJ Property Management, and a Master in Business Administration alumnus of the University.

The webinar focused on entrepreneurship and the relationship among risk, fear, learning, decision making, and reward. The speaker introduced the concept of the 鈥淢indset Matrix,鈥� which explains how entrepreneurs can manage their thoughts and emotions when facing uncertainty. Risk is the possibility of an unfavorable outcome, while fear is the emotional response to that risk. The goal is not to eliminate fear but to prevent it from controlling decisions. Instead, fear can be transformed into questions, questions into information, information into a plan, and a plan into calculated action.

One of the most meaningful parts of the webinar was the speaker鈥檚 sharing of his entrepreneurial experience involving RJ Property Management. While teaching at 探花精选, he saw an opportunity to transform an underutilized garden and orchid area into commercial spaces for rent. However, the decision involved not only financial risk but also discussions with his parents and considerations involving time, relationships, and personal responsibility. His experience showed that entrepreneurship involves different kinds of risks, not just money. The speaker also discussed how setbacks can create new opportunities. He shared an experience involving the bankruptcy of a tenant, which initially resulted in lost rental income but later opened the possibility for another business opportunity. This demonstrated the importance of being adaptable and learning from unexpected situations.

Participants also completed a 15-item entrepreneurial risk assessment, which encouraged them to reflect on their willingness to take risks, leave their comfort zones, learn from failure, and make decisions despite uncertainty. A calculated-risk assessment further emphasized the importance of preparation, testing ideas, setting limits, and gathering information before making major commitments.

The webinar emphasized that learning should come between fear and action. Entrepreneurs should use information and measurement to make better decisions. Indicators such as costs, sales, conversion rates, profit margins, and payback periods can help reduce uncertainty and determine whether a business decision is producing the expected results. The speaker also explained that entrepreneurial rewards are not limited to financial profit. They may include personal fulfillment, innovation, employment opportunities, community impact, knowledge, confidence, and legacy. To manage fear of failure, entrepreneurs should start small, continue learning, seek guidance from mentors, practice financial discipline, solve real customer problems, and recognize progress.

Overall, the webinar taught that entrepreneurship is not about avoiding failure or taking unnecessary risks. It is about recognizing opportunities, understanding risks, managing fear, learning from experience, and taking calculated action. The speaker鈥檚 closing message, 鈥淔ear may travel with you, but it does not have to drive,鈥� reminded participants that fear is a natural part of entrepreneurship, but it should not prevent people from pursuing meaningful opportunities. The webinar encouraged students and future business professionals to face uncertainty with courage, preparation, wisdom, and disciplined decision making.

Testing sessions in both locations will be held at 8:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m., providing prospective students in the two provinces an opportunity to take the admission test closer to their communities.

Applicants are required to present a valid photo ID, such as a school ID or government-issued ID, which must match the name indicated in their online application. They must also pay the 鈧�450 (non-refundable) testing fee and submit a printed copy or photocopy of their proof of payment, which may be an official receipt from 探花精选, Palawan Express, bank deposit slip, or online banking confirmation.

探花精选 (探花精选), through the Office of the Vice President for Research, Development, and Extension (OVPRDE), the University Research Center (URC), and the College of Computer Studies (CCS), in partnership with X LIPAD Solutions Inc. under De La Salle University鈥檚 Center for Sustainable Development Research, conducted the Drone Comprehensive Education and Research Development Training on September 4 and 5, 2026, at J7 Hotel, Jalandoni Extension, Brgy. Bolilao, Mandurriao, Iloilo City.

The two-day training was attended by selected faculty and staff members from the College of Engineering (COE) and the College of Computer Studies (CCS), with the deans of both colleges also present during the training.

On the first day, participants were introduced to the fundamental concepts and applications of drone technology. The sessions covered drone safety, drone technology, and the use of the Ground Control Station (GCS).

Day 2: Participants gain hands on experience in drone operations

On the second day, participants engaged in hands on activities focused on quadcopter assembly and calibration, bench testing, first flight instructions, flight modes, Return to Launch (RTL) flight, and waypoint programming.

The practical sessions enabled participants to apply their knowledge, develop essential skills in drone operations, and explore the potential applications of drone technology in research, innovation, and academic activities.

Participants take part in an actual drone demonstration, applying the skills and techniques introduced during the training.

Notably, the said training is part of the WEAVE Program of the OVPRDE, 探花精选鈥檚 institutional framework for strengthening faculty capacity, research systems, and innovation outcomes.

Serving as resource speakers for the two-day training were representatives from X-LiPAD Solutions Inc.: Dr. Alvin Y. Chua, President; Dr. Edwin Sybingco, Director; Engr. Marc Francis Q. Say, Consultant; and Engr. Ni帽o Rigo Emil G. Lim, Technical Specialist.
