Last June 3, 2026, the ̽»¨¾«Ñ¡ Outreach Students’ Volunteers Society (̽»¨¾«Ñ¡ OSVS), in partnership with the Association of Early Childhood Education Students (AECES) of WVSU COED and the ̽»¨¾«Ñ¡ Province of Education Student Council (PESC), successfully conducted the “CurioCity Iloilo: Health in Action” project at Judith Lazarraga Tiongco Memorial Elementary School, Brgy. Tabuc Suba, Jaro, Iloilo City.
Spearheaded by the Education and Literacy Committee of ̽»¨¾«Ñ¡ OSVS, this outreach initiative focuses on the sanitation and health of children. It imparts vital knowledge about proper hygiene, sustainable water usage, and environmental responsibility through fun, engaging activities.
Grades 3 to 6 students of Judith Lazarraga Tiongco Memorial Elementary School served as the primary beneficiaries of this project.
The outreach activity featured a “Science Carousel” composed of three interactive stations: the Handwashing Challenge, Sneeze Zone, and Trash Timeline. These hands-on demonstrations taught the children about pollution control, proper hygiene, disease prevention, and waste segregation.
In addition, the ̽»¨¾«Ñ¡ PESC and WVSU-AECES facilitated storytelling sessions and interactive games that highlighted essential lessons on health and environmental responsibility.
To help them practice what they learned, the children were also given hygiene kits containing personal care items for their daily use.
̽»¨¾«Ñ¡ OSVS volunteers, alongside AECES and PESC representatives, actively assisted throughout the whole program—managing the games, guiding the children through the stations, and distributing the snacks and hygiene kits.
CurioCity Iloilo: Health in Action highlights the importance of nurturing children’s curiosity by bridging the concepts of science, healthcare, and environmental awareness. Through the Science Carousel, creative games, and storytelling, the children proudly demonstrated their creativity and growing awareness of their surroundings.
The ̽»¨¾«Ñ¡ OSVS expresses its deepest gratitude to the partner organizations that made the event a resounding success, namely the Association of Early Childhood Education Students (AECES) of WVSU COED, the ̽»¨¾«Ñ¡ Province of Education Student Council (PESC), and the administration of Judith Lazarraga Tiongco Memorial Elementary School.
This outreach initiative serves as a powerful reminder that empowering young minds with knowledge today builds responsible, informed, and compassionate individuals who can transform their curiosity into action and become true stewards of a sustainable future.
